Integration of “Opposition to the Grant of Patent” and “Invalidation Trial of Patent”(effective as of October 1, 2006)
In the past, from the patent registration date up to 3 months following the publication date of patent
registration, anyone could request a decision to revoke a patent through an opposition to the grant of
patent, and the interested party or the examiner could demand separately an invalidation trial of patent,
after the patent registration date.

Because of their overlapping usage, there has been delays in granting the patent and has been
overspending of time and money.  Therefore, in order to resolve these issues, the Opposition to the
Grant of Patent will be discontinued and will be integrated to the  "Invalidation Trial of Patent."

From October 1, 2006, anyone can demand an Invalidation Trial of Patent from the patent registration
date up to the 3 months following the publication date of patent registration, and after the said period
only the interested party or the examiner can demand a invalidation Trial
